David Camarena | Principal
David Camarena has been a principal at the middle school level and an assistant principal at the middle and high school level. This is his 10th year as a school administrator and prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Camarena taught Spanish for nine years. Mr. Camarena has worked in private, charter, and public schools. He is committed to learning and helping his community. Mr. Camarena has led efforts using data-driven instruction to improve testing performance and student proficiency at his previous sites. Additionally, Mr. Camarena has experience in organizational and professional development, staff management, school site, and program budgeting, workforce training, and faculty evaluation.
Mr. Camarena has a B.A. in Foreign Languages & Linguistics and an M.A. in School Administration. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, German and is also learning Hindi. In his free time, he enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, biking, and spending time with his family. Mr. Camarena is very excited to be at Taft and looks forward to working with all students and families.

Jocelyn Arriaga | Community School Coordinator
Jocelyne is a committed community school coordinator with a Bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Health and Human Services, with an emphasis in Social Work. As a proud Latina, she values building strong relationships with students and their families, and is passionate about promoting access and student success. Jocelyne enjoys working with school staff and community partners to ensure that families are connected to the resources and support systems they need.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and spending quality time with her family and her 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Larry.
