Our Enrichment Activities

Library

Our library is open during lunch and on Thursdays after school for families to visit and use.

After School

Taft partners with Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula and Police Activities League to provide an after school program. Program activities include academic instruction, homework support, enrichment classes, life skills classes, and recreation. Additional information is available in the school office and at the Family Center.

Student Council

In conjunction with an advisor 4th & 5th grade students meet every monthly  during lunch time. Student Council runs spirit days, fundraising, and other school wide activities. The goal of Student Council is to provide the students with a voice in school decision-making.

ART4SCHOOLS (Community School of Music and Art)

Each classroom receives art lessons led by a teacher from  Art4School  that emphasize creative expression, appreciation of cultural and historical foundation for art, understanding of language of art and development of technical skills.

Special Classroom Projects

Each classroom teacher prepares special events such as field trips, holiday projects, performances, etc.

5th Grade Outdoor Education

In the spring, Taft 5th graders attend the San Mateo County Office of Education/YMCA Camp at Jones Gulch. It provides a weeklong residential program where our fifth graders learn and experience nature firsthand. They explore the forest and beach ecosystems and work together as a community. Fifth graders are accompanied by their classroom teacher.

Sports

Taft students participate in a various of sports like volleyball, golf, and basketball. Sport are run by the Police Activites League (PAL). To learn more about sports, please contact PAL.
